September 2007....you're kidding me?!?

Ok...I can't believe it has been so long since I have updated this crazy blog. I guess keeping up with Evan has become a bigger job now, so time is just flying by. Evan is so big now, he still loves trucks, motorcycles and most of all Lightning McQueen. He was all into the Lightning McQueen Cars movie for the longest time and can even quote lines from the movie....we all can. I am happy to say that now he is really fond of Veggie Tales. He loves Silly Songs with Larry (the cucumber). I highly recommend the Veggie Tales videos and music because it is entertaining for preschoolers and parents. Evan is quite and handful and can still tell us a thing or two. He is also fond of saying things to me that I have said to him. He likes calling me Mr. Bossy and telling me that my mouth is sassy. It's quite funny how those things come back to you.

I am proud to say that Evan is completely potty trained and has been since late March. It didn't seem to take him too long to catch on. He had quite the motivation though. He got quarters when he successfully used the potty and he is excited about starting preschool in September. Yes, my baby is starting preschool in September. I think he'll be fine, but I'm sure it will be hard for me. He is excited about preschool and I know it will be a good experience for him.

Let's see...Gary has started a new job. He got a better offer, one where he can work from home with limited travel. Evan and I are both thrilled to have him here every day and I think we are all much happier. Evan had no trouble adjusting to having Daddy working at home and really doesn't bother him too much.

Smokie is recovering from a bout of pneumonia which just came up late last week. He's doing much better and we are hoping for a full recovery. Evan is his little sidekick. We knew that Smokie loved Evan, but when we picked him up from the doggie hospital Friday, he went right to Evan and licked him square in the face. Then, he came to me. It was quite sweet. I'm glad that they have become friends.

Well that's about it for now. Maybe I can keep up with this blog a little better in the coming months!

Say Goodbye to Summer....Hopefully!

Hi Everyone!

I don't know about you all, but I am ready for the summer to be over. These 90+ days have gotten old. Of course, as I write this I am sitting here in the mountains where the temperature right now is 47 degrees. It's wonderful!

We have had a busy August and September so far. We are fitting in a mini vacation before Gary begins his travels for the fall. Let's see...Evan enjoyed playing inside the majority of the month of August. He attended his first official Vacation Bible School which he enjoyed very much. He went to his own class each night and for the first time I wasn't working with is age group! He completed swimming lessons which he enjoyed as well. He learned how to kick his feet, blow bubbles, climb in and out of the pool, and how to use his arms like ice cream scoops to scoop away the water. He still isn't too fond of getting his head wet. The lessons were fun for all of us though.

We are in the midst of a bathroom rennovation so Evan has enjoyed watching the progress as well as getting his little plastic tools and "helping". His absolute favorite thing that has come from this rennovation has been a pipe that he uses as a tunnel for his Matchbox cars. Yes, I have a pipe in the middle of my living room floor for Evan to roll his Matchbox cars from one end to the other. He spends hours doing this, so I'm not complaining! He's definitely all boy!

Stay tuned for the September update. So far, September has been uneventful, but surely we will stir up some trouble between now and then!

June Update

Hi Everyone!

Well, another month has come and gone and boy have we been busy. We started our month going to the beach for a weekend and we ended our month in the mountains. We had a great time at both places. We just returned from the mountains this past weekend. Evan had a great time. We visited the New River State Park, Grandfather Mountain, and Jeffress Park. He enjoyed each one, but I think his favorite was Grandfather Mountain. He was very impressed with the bears and the mountain lion. He also enjoyed walking across the mile-high swinging bridge (yes, I let him walk across the bridge!).

Evan is getting to be such a big boy now. It is so nice once the little ones can talk and let you know what they need or want. Sometimes, though, we do wish he would stop talking for a least a few minutes! We are starting the adventure of potty training. So far, he is doing a great job. He "earns" a purple popscicle at night once he uses the potty. He thinks that's really neat. In the mountains he got to sleep in a big boy bed which he really liked. It was nice for us not to have to carry the pack-n-play too!

We hope that everyone is enjoying their summer and we hope to hear from you soon! :-)

Happy Spring!

Hi Everyone --

Happy Spring! Once again, I have waited entirely too long to update Evan's blog. He is doing really good these days. We have had a busy few months. Gary went to Asia and back again at the end of March and first of April. We celebrated Evan's 2nd birthday on April 14th. We had a small party for him here at the house. He had a good time visiting with everyone. I can hardly believe he is two already. He can communicate with us very good for a two year old. We can carry on short conversations with him and he is easy to understand. He also lets us know that he understands us by saying "Ok, Mommy", or "Ok, Daddy". We have noticed that if we tell him something and he doesn't respond with Ok that means he didn't understand. We are certainly proud of him and all of his 2 year old accomplishments. Of course, we are convinced that he is genius! :-)

Gary is plugging along at the same company and still traveling to places I'll never visit. I am still loving my job as Evan and Gary's caretaker! It's hard work, but I wouldn't trade this time for anything.

I hope everyone reading this is doing good as well. Please leave us some comments!

Enjoy the photos of his party and our other daily activities.

Evan and the Big Trucks!

One of my dear friends took us to the garage where they work on the BIG city trucks. Evan got to see several garbage trucks, dump trucks, and other big trucks. He was very impressed. He was climbing on the trucks and kept saying, "Wow, neat!"

Daddy and Evan Enjoying the Snow on February 1st

Long time, no blog........

Wow, is it really March already! It seems like it hasn't been that long since I have updated this crazy thing. February was a busy month for us. Gary's travels and Evan's antics make every month go by fast it seems!

Evan is growing so fast and learning so much these days. He is still talking about trucks, especially garbage trucks and dump trucks. He is also quite fond of bulldozers. We are trying to teach Evan some manners these days. He does say "please" and "thank you". He occassionally says "excuse me". He really likes to remind Daddy to say "excuse me" too. I'm sure there are a lot of other things that I am forgetting. He learns so many new words and things each day. It's hard for me to keep up!

Smokie is doing good too. He and Evan are becoming very good friends. They were riding in Evan's wagon together just the other night. They were both as content as they could be.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoy the February photos.
